Creative Director - Design

The role of the Creative Director is to lead the design team in production of original creative that is consistently exceptional. The Creative Director works closely with the Chief Creative Officer, and other designers in developing badass creative. The Creative Director will also take a lead role in some client work while helping to direct the work of others. As needed, the Creative Director will consult with the Allocation Manager to help assign creative work and direct workflows toward healthy engagement with creative tasks, helping to balance the overall needs of the studio.

Specific activities include

  • Produces strong conceptual ideas, constantly bringing new perspectives and approaches to the team
  • Overall responsibility for mentorship of designer, including the health of each individual designer and the department as a whole
  • Works with the CCO to direct creative ideation and production
  • Develops original creative
  • Helps with effective allocation of both internal and external designers to produce excellent creative with successful production benchmarks, milestones and deliverables
  • Tuned in to national and international design trends
  • Mentors, supervises, motivates and inspires the creative team
  • Works closely with Project Managers to assist with appropriate estimates and Scopes of Work, taking into careful consideration the necessary creative resources to execute on the proposed work
  • Challenges and influence creative team to try new ways to consider their work
  • Convey design concepts to internal and external audiences
  • Contributes strategically to brand design business

Qualifications for Creative Director

  • 7-10 years of experience in graphic design with strong conceptual skills
  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web
  • Proficient in Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign, and other graphic design software
  • Compelling portfolio of work over a wide range of creative projects
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent eye for detail

Creative Recruiter

We are seeking a fun and hyper organized Creative Recruiter to take on hiring and recruiting. The Creative Recruiter is responsible managing internal allocation of the creative teams, recruiting new staff members for open positions, continually meeting with possible candidates for freelancing, interning possibilities and positions across the agency, while maintaining our applicant tracking system, and working closely with leadership to bring in good people who want to work on great projects. In a nutshell, Sockeye’s Creative Recruiter is an integral part of the agency’s day-to-day and overall success.

Responsibilities include

  • Identify agency’s talent needs by working closely with leadership and project management team
  • Create job descriptions, post roles, screen, interview, and manage the hiring process alongside the hiring managers for new full-time employees
  • Research and recommend an applicant tracking system (ATS), then help implement that system into our hiring processes
  • Manage and maintain our freelance/talent database/ATS
  • Conduct meetups with potential candidates, interns, freelancers, etc.
  • Filter and vet all emails/phone calls regarding job opportunities at Sockeye
  • Continue evolving and finding ways to enhance the allocation/recruiting process
  • Manage internal allocation for our creative team
  • Identify and problem solve allocation/workload issues as needed
  • Reach out to freelancers when needed to check interest/availability on specific projects
  • Participate in industry and recruiting network events, particularly ones with a focus on diversity
  • Work with the studio and hiring manager to oversee the onboarding process of new hires
  • Facilitate exit process for departing staff
  • Manage internal initiatives and projects as needed

Requirements or Equivalent Experience

  • 3-5 years of recruiting experience at a creative agency
  • Outstanding communication skills across all channels (phone, in-person, email, Slack); as well as the ability to build rapport with candidates and decision makers
  • Enthusiasm and passion for hiring with a focus on diversity and inclusion
  • Knowledge and general understanding of the planning, creative, print, social, and video production processes
  • Proficient with Google Suite, remote conferencing, and hiring tools
  • Strong organizational and project management skills a plus

Production Designer

We are seeking a Production Designer to support brand design in our studio. The Production Designer collaborates closely with creative directors, designers and project managers to bring all projects over the finish line.

Responsibilities include

  • Prepares final press-ready files based on specifications
  • Creates presentation decks
  • Makes various formats of supplied artwork production-ready and resolves any artwork issues that arise during production
  • Provides image retouching, clipping paths and additional image manipulation
  • Packages and pre-flights files for release to printers or media partners
  • Creates PDF’s for print and client review
  • Prepares images for online and mobile applications
  • Catalogs and references art for future projects
  • Follows a timeline to be sure tasks are completed in a timely manner

Requirements or Equivalent Experience

  • 1-3 years of production experience
